I did not plan for my VA life and work from home setup to look the way it does now.

When I started working with XOXO Parents, I was handling the operations side of things. Shipments, suppliers, the kind of work that happens quietly in the background so everything else can run smoothly. It was detail work. A lot of coordination. A lot of keeping track of things so nothing falls through the cracks.

I liked it. It suited me.

But slowly, things shifted.

VA Life Work From Home: How My Role Changed

It did not happen overnight. One task led to another, and before I realized it, I was no longer just managing logistics. I was on the marketing side of the business now.

And with that came a lot of new things to learn.

I started setting up automations in Apollo.io. If you are not familiar with it, Apollo is a sales and outreach platform, and getting the sequences and workflows running properly takes some patience. I will be honest, there were moments where I was sitting at my desk late at night just staring at the screen, clicking through settings, testing things, trying to figure out what was supposed to connect where.

But I figured it out.

The Website That Took Up Most of My Brain Since January

The biggest project I have been working on since the start of this year is movienightco.com.

Movie Night Co. is a whole separate brand under XOXO Parents. It is focused on custom and bulk movie night gift boxes for corporate clients, schools, fundraisers, and events. A completely different audience from the main brand, which meant the website needed its own look, its own tone, its own structure.

I built it.

I had some background in web work before this, so I was not starting from zero. But building something for a real business, with actual customers and products and specific pages that need to do a job, that is a different kind of pressure. You want it to look right. You want it to work. You want someone to land on that homepage and immediately understand what the brand is about.

I kept going back to it, adjusting things, rearranging sections, fixing what felt off. It was a lot of quiet, unglamorous work that most people do not see.

But when I look at the site now, I feel something I did not expect.

I feel proud.

The Honest Part About Working in VA Life From Home

I think a lot of VAs, especially the ones doing more than what their title says, do not always let themselves feel proud of the work they do.

We just move on to the next task.

But I want to sit with this for a second and actually say it. I built a website for a real brand. I set up sales automations. I helped run the back end of a business from the other side of the world, from my desk here in Davao, in the middle of the night while everyone else was asleep.

That is not small.

And if you are a VA reading this who is quietly doing big things for someone else’s business, I just want you to know that it counts. Even when nobody says it out loud. Even when you are just one person working from home, figuring things out on your own.

It still counts.

What I Am Still Learning

Honestly? A lot.

Marketing is a different muscle from operations. I am still getting comfortable with some parts of it. There are tools I am still figuring out, strategies I am reading up on, things I wish I had learned earlier. But that is kind of what this VA life work from home journey is, right? You grow into it. You surprise yourself a little. And then you keep going.

I am still going.
