I never really thought about how crystals could help me. They kind of just… found me. And honestly, looking back, I think that’s exactly how it was supposed to happen.
It Started With a Boy Named Macky
Before I even knew what crystals were, a friend gave me one.
But I was young. And somewhere along the way, I lost it.
I didn’t think much about it after that. Eventually, life moved on.
The Tarot Phase That Reminded Me
When I was 19, I got my first tarot card deck.

The Pandemic Brought Me to a Crystal Shop
It was during the pandemic when it finally happened.
I dragged my friend Dabs to a crystal shop at MTS called Daisies Magical Sanctuary. Honestly, all I told him was that I just wanted to look. We weren’t even planning to buy anything. It was only for the beauty of it.
But the moment I walked in, something shifted.
There was an amethyst geode sitting there, and I felt drawn to it before I even understood why. I ended up holding it in my hands, just feeling the weight of it, the texture, the energy of it. And before I knew it, I was buying it.
I also made Dabs help me pick out a set of nine small crystals and bought it for me. Black tourmaline. Pyrite. Selenite. Lapis lazuli. Smoky quartz. Rose quartz. Clear quartz. And two others whose names I honestly still can’t remember, but somehow that feels fine.
I left the shop with a bag full of stones and a feeling I couldn’t quite name.

How Crystals Helped Me Feel More Intentional
I’m not someone who follows a strict crystal ritual. I don’t meditate with them every morning or arrange them in a perfect grid on my altar.
I just like having them around.
They sit on my desk. They’re near my things. And there’s something about seeing them every day that makes me feel more intentional. Like I’m reminded, quietly, to be a little more present. A little more gentle with myself.
If you’ve ever gone through a season where everything felt heavy, you’ll know that sometimes the smallest things are what help you come back to yourself. For me, crystals became one of those small things.
Maybe that’s the real magic. Not some mystical force, but rather the simple act of surrounding yourself with something you chose with care.

A Gentle Note for the Curious
If you’ve been thinking about crystals but don’t know where to start, I’ll say this: you don’t have to know everything before you begin.
You don’t need to memorize meanings or build a perfect collection. Sometimes you just walk into a shop and something calls to you. That’s enough.
Some crystals that are good for beginners:
Amethyst. Calming and gentle, especially if you have trouble sleeping or feel anxious a lot.
Selenite. Good for clearing energy. It feels light and soft, like a quiet reset.
Black Tourmaline. Grounding and protective. A good one to keep close when things feel heavy.
Rose Quartz. Soft and warm. Good for self-love and the days when you need a little more gentleness toward yourself.
Clear Quartz. Simple and clear. It amplifies whatever intention you bring to it.

Of course, you don’t have to believe in everything to start. You just have to be a little curious.
I sometimes think about that small crystal Macky gave me in high school. The one I carried without knowing its name. The one I lost.
I think it planted something, though. A small seed that took years to grow.
And when the pandemic came, and the world felt heavy and uncertain, I walked into a little shop called Daisies Magical Sanctuary and finally let it bloom.
Maybe some things find you exactly when you’re ready for them.
